According Syria’s media, the pro-government Syrian army has reportedly forced the opposition militants out of Rabiya and a nearby village.

After liberation of the rebel-town and termination of terrorists and their weapon depots, supply routes to the areas captured by the Islamic State were cut off.

Before their retreat, ISIS fighters mined a building where they arranged an ammunition depot.

For the reference, rebels of the Islamic State seized Rabyia two years ago. The opposition troop of several hundred rebels held the seizure unwilling to give up. It was exactly this area where the Russian pilot was shot down by Turkey’s supporters. Rabyia is only 12 km away from Turkey’s border. So the area is like a gateway, which was used by terrorists to get weapon supplies.

Importantly, soldiers devoted their victory to the Russian and Syrian folks.

Meanwhile, fierce combat is unfolding on Syria’s highlands. Rebels are taking advantage of the mountains and using elevated points as fortresses.

Syria has been involved in the civil war since March 2011. According the UNO estimates, the armed conflict caused 220 victims among civilians and the military.
